Chef - La Familia Soho

At La Familia Soho , food is at the heart of what we do. We’re a vibrant Mexican taqueria in the middle of Soho, serving tacos, quesadillas, tostadas and Mexican-inspired dishes in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.

As a Chef, you’ll play a key role in delivering great food quickly and consistently, making sure every dish leaves the kitchen looking and tasting exactly as it should.

What you’ll be doing

Delivering quality food at pace

• Preparing and cooking menu items to La Familia specifications
• Producing tacos, quesadillas, tostadas and sides consistently
• Maintaining quality, presentation and portion control
• Completing daily food preparation to the required standards
• Delivering food within expected service times
• Following recipes and specifications accurately

Executing service

• Working efficiently during busy Soho trading periods
• Keeping your section organised and ready for service
• Communicating clearly with the rest of the kitchen and front-of-house teams
• Managing multiple orders while maintaining quality and presentation
• Adapting quickly as demand changes throughout the shift
• Supporting the wider kitchen to maintain smooth service

Maintaining standards

• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation
• Following all food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures
• Completing required kitchen checks and records accurately
• Following correct food labelling, day-dotting and stock rotation procedures
• Ensuring workstations are correctly set up, maintained and closed down
• Looking after kitchen equipment and reporting any issues
• Helping minimise food waste through correct preparation and portioning

Contributing to the team

• Working collaboratively with the kitchen and FOH teams
• Supporting colleagues during busy services
• Helping with prep, deliveries and kitchen organisation where required
• Maintaining a positive and professional attitude
• Taking pride in the food leaving the kitchen
• Contributing to the energetic, welcoming culture of La Familia

Experience

Experience working in a kitchen environment is preferred, particularly within a busy restaurant, street-food or high-volume operation.

Experience with Mexican or Latin American food would be a bonus, but it isn’t essential. A good understanding of food safety and hygiene is important, while attitude, reliability and willingness to learn matter just as much.
