We are seeking a committed, nurturing, and enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Bermondsey, starting as soon as possible. This role offers an exciting opportunity to teach pupils at a crucial transition point from Early Years into Key Stage 1, helping them build strong foundations in phonics, reading, writing, and maths while developing confidence and independence.
The school is proud of its inclusive ethos and strong community values. Staff work collaboratively to ensure all pupils feel safe, supported, and motivated to learn. The leadership team is approachable and places a strong emphasis on professional development, wellbeing, and maintaining high standards of teaching and learning across the school.

You will use assessment effectively to monitor progress, identify gaps, and adapt teaching accordingly. A strong focus on phonics, early writing, and numeracy will be central to the role.
You will work closely with teaching assistants, Key Stage 1 colleagues, and senior leaders to ensure consistency and continuity across the phase. Building positive relationships with parents and carers will also be an important part of your role, supporting pupils both in school and at home.
