Role Description:

This role is responsible for executing independent second-line Compliance and Operational Risk oversight of Enterprise Position Monitoring & Disclosures (EPMD) across EMEA. EPMD is a high-risk area covering share ownership monitoring and disclosure obligations across multiple jurisdictions and represents a key area of regulatory risk for the firm. The role will provide oversight of EPMD processes, controls, regulatory change and remediation activities, working closely with stakeholders across the organisation.

The successful candidate will provide credible review and challenge to stakeholders across various Lines of Business, Operations, Technology, Legal and Risk functions, helping to ensure regulatory requirements are appropriately interpreted, implemented and embedded within the firm's processes and control framework. The role will support key EPMD initiatives, regulatory change implementation, issue remediation and governance activities, while contributing to the ongoing development of the bank’s second-line oversight activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct real-time independent review and challenge of the firm's EPMD alert activity on a risk-based approach, to ensure the most technically complex alerts are subject to robust SME analysis.

  • Provide compliance and operational risk oversight of EPMD regulatory changes, control enhancements and remediation initiatives.

  • Perform monitoring, targeted assessments and other risk-based coverage activities to assess compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations and the effectiveness of associated controls.

  • Support the development of second-line data testing to independently review the accuracy of EPMD disclosures.

  • Support the development of EPMD training and perform periodic review of policies relating to EPMD.

  • Review and challenge FLU processes, risks, controls, Single Process Inventory and Risk and Control Self-Assessments relating to EPMD activities.

  • Partner with regional and global stakeholders to promote effective implementation of regulatory requirements and consistent oversight practices.

  • Support the development of less experienced team members through coaching, knowledge sharing and day-to-day guidance on EPMD-related regulatory and risk matters.

Required Skills:

The successful applicant should have strong compliance, operational risk or regulatory reporting experience and a proven ability to influence stakeholders, provide credible challenges and drive positive risk outcomes. The individual should be capable of applying risk-based oversight in a technically complex and evolving regulatory environment.

  • Interpret Laws, Rules and Regulations – Ability to analyse regulatory requirements and apply them to complex business scenarios.

  • Stakeholder Management & Influence – Proven ability to provide credible challenge and influence senior stakeholders across Front Line Unit and independent risk management functions.

  • Critical Thinking & Decision Making – Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity and sound judgement when assessing complex risk and regulatory matters.

  • Attention to Detail – Ability to identify regulatory nuances, assess complex fact patterns and ensure consistent application of requirements across products and business activities.

  • Coaching & Mentoring – Ability to mentor and develop less experienced team members through technical guidance, knowledge sharing and day-to-day support.

  • Written and Verbal Communication – Ability to communicate complex topics clearly and concisely to senior management, governance forums and regulators.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Several years’ experience in financial services

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

  • Compliance and/or Operational Risk experience

  • Knowledge of EPMD-related requirements (e.g. share ownership disclosures, position monitoring) or other regulatory reporting regimes

  • Global Markets experience preferred
