Midwifery at King’s has a reputation for innovation and working in ways that puts women and their families at the heart of our care.
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and motivated midwife with a passion for infant feeding to join our team for 37.5 hours per week.
As Band 7 Specialist Midwife for Infant Feeding you will be responsible for leading a team of midwives and a team of Infant Feeding Support Workers to successfully achieve full level 3 Baby Friendly Initiative accreditation.
You will be an effective change agent, pivotal in bringing about positive changes in infant feeding practice throughout the maternity service. You must have excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire, support, manage and motivate staff. The role involves coordinating training and education, and as such will require you to have excellent teaching skills and a high standard of organisation and time management.
If you are looking for career development and the opportunity to broaden your experience this is an ideal post.
This post is based on the Princess Royal University Hospital site but will require a degree of cross-site working.
Main duties of the job
As Band 7 Specialist Midwife for Infant Feeding you will help lead the PRUH maternity team in supporting infant feeding across the service, and work with the senior team cross-site in our goal to achieve Baby Friendly Initiative accreditation.
As a Band 7, you will need excellent communication skills and the ability to lead, inspire, support, manage and motivate staff. This role will give you the opportunity to broaden your experience in managing a service, and working towards a project goal.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be supported to develop skills in managing a small team of staff independently, review risk investigation cases and complaints, develop patient information leaflets and guidelines, and work externally with our peers in Health Visiting and across Bromley.
Part of your role will also be to support infant feeding education for all staff, helping us prepare to meet Baby Friendly Initiative education standards.

AI tools like chatbots and virtual assistants can support you as you complete your application. For example, they can check for spelling or grammar errors, or help you to decide what to include. They shouldn’t however replace your own responses or be used to write the application for you.
Relying too much on AI can negatively impact your chances of success because automatically generated answers:
- might not be specific or relevant enough to address the criteria in the recruitment profile
- often seem generic and not personalised enough – an AI response won’t show your unique voice and perspective
- could misrepresent information about you, such as your qualifications, skills and experience
