Postdoctoral Research Associate - Strand, London, WC2R 2LS

About us:

The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at Kings College London is a world-leading centre for research and education in mental health and neuroscience. This post is part of a Youth Endowment Fund (YEF)-funded project examining how ADHD, treatment pathways, and social and environmental factors relate to youth violence, offending behaviour, and criminal justice involvement in children and young people. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team working with large-scale linked mental health and healthcare datasets to generate evidence that informs policy and practice.

About the role:

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a Youth Endowment Fund (YEF)-funded project examining the relationship between attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), treatment pathways, contextual risk factors, and youth violence, offending behaviour, and criminal justice involvement among children and young people.

Working within a multidisciplinary team of researchers from Kings College London, the University of Cambridge, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, and the National Childrens Bureau, the postholder will conduct analyses using large-scale linked administrative datasets, including the Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) platform and Hospital Episode Statistics (HES). The successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of advanced statistical analyses, including longitudinal, survival, and regression modelling approaches, and support the dissemination of findings through reports, publications, and stakeholder engagement activities.

The postholder will work closely with the project investigators and external partners to deliver the research programme within agreed timelines. They will play a central role in data management, statistical analysis, interpretation of findings, and the preparation of outputs for academic, policy, and practitioner audiences. The role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to research with significant potential to influence mental health, youth justice, and public policy.

The postholder will be based at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), King's College London, and will report to the Principal Investigator while working collaboratively across the wider project team.

This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 18 months.
