Expedia Group Advertising is redefining how travel brands connect with global audiences. Our Publishing Team owns the end-to-end delivery of display and travel ads across Expedia’s white-label and partner platforms. We’re building the next generation of video ad infrastructure, AI-powered tooling, and Rapid API integrations to deliver smarter, more engaging ad experiences.

This is a full stack role, ideal for engineers who want to grow across the stack while focusing on building scalable, high-performance UI systems. You’ll join a senior, collaborative team that values autonomy, curiosity, and a “Go Get What’s Next” mindset. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes initiative, and is excited to shape the future of travel advertising.

In this role, you will: ·

  • Implement, and maintain performant frontend experiences, using React, GraphQL and related technologies to deliver intuitive, accessible, and responsive UIs that perform at scale. Partner closely with designers, and product managers to translate complex ad and travel workflows into simple, elegant user journeys, while continuously iterating based on data and customer feedback.

  • Design, implement, and maintain reliable, scalable, and secure backend services, including detailed system design, low-level design, API design, and data modeling to support high-traffic travel applications.

  • Own end‑to‑end delivery of complex features and services across the full software development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing optimization.

  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate business and customer needs into robust technical solutions that can be reused across multiple domains.

  • Improve service reliability, availability, and performance through data‑driven analysis, observability, instrumentation, and continuous operational excellence practices.

  • Apply engineering best practices including code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, security-by-design, and documentation, while mentoring other engineers through code reviews and technical guidance.

  • Demonstrate familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products, including safely integrating and operating AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes within services and platforms.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience building and operating software services.

  • Several years of professional experience designing, developing, and supporting production-grade backend or full‑stack services, including responsibility for one or more critical services within a product or domain.

  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language and related backend frameworks, with hands‑on experience in system design (including low‑level design), RESTful or RPC API design, and data modeling for relational or NoSQL datastores.

  • Experience owning services in production environments, including monitoring, logging, incident investigation, and collaborating with others to improve reliability, scalability, and security.

  • Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products as part of building or integrating services and features.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing and evolving distributed systems and service architectures that operate at scale, including thoughtful API contracts, data models, and integration patterns across multiple services or domains.

  • Proven track record driving technical improvements such as performance tuning, resilience patterns, cost optimization, and security hardening based on metrics and data‑driven insights.

  • Hands‑on experience with advanced observability, automated testing strategies, and CI/CD pipelines to achieve high deployment frequency and low change failure rates for owned services.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership within a team or domain, including influencing design decisions, setting engineering standards, and guiding others in effective system and API design.

  • Experience safely integrating and operating AI/ML‑enabled functionality in services or workflows (for example, personalization, recommendations, or intelligent automation), including understanding of model lifecycle considerations and monitoring AI behavior in production.
