Transport Coordinator
- Working closely with the Depot Managers and Operations Supervisors to act quickly where problems arise, contributing to an open system of communication to ensure the consistent treatment of problems
- Assisting the depots in ensuring vehicles and associated equipment are maintained to a high standard in keeping with both Statutory and Company Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental standards
- Adhering to all Health and Safety Procedures within the transport environment
- Ensuring adherence to all Company Policies and Procedures
- Being fully conversant and compliant with all Environmental Health and Safety procedures
- Completing quarterly ethics modules as advised by the Ethics & Compliance Officer (ECO)
- Fully complying with all Quality, Environmental Health and Safety directives including but not limited to PPE, Accident Reporting, Cardinal Rules, Risk Assessment Method Statement (RAMS), and Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE)
- Engaging with the Sales Team and Hire Controllers to apply transport costs competitively and in line with current market trends
- Regularly reviewing and engaging with external hauliers to achieve competitive pricing
- Coordinating internal transport between depots effectively, reducing costs
- Identifying areas of opportunity from Company Management Accounts to save costs on transport and fuel To be successful in the role you should have:
- Previous experience in the similar role
- Good geographical knowledge
- An understanding of driving hours and laws
- An understanding of the requirements of loading and unloading of HGV vehicles
- Good communication skills by phone and email
