Headquartered in London, with offices around the world, Checkout.com is trusted by leading brands including eBay, DocuSign, Vinted, Uber, Klarna, Wise, Pinterest, Grab and Sony.
This is a career-defining opportunity at a generation-defining company. There is no finish line at Checkout.com : we set ambitious goals, build with intent and move at speed, always guided by our values as we work to create a brighter future for payments across the online ecosystem.
The role
We are scaling a high-impact Strategy & Operations team within the CEO Office to strengthen product delivery and execution across the business.
As a Manager, Strategy & Operations, you will be a hands-on operator embedded in a designated Product team or pillar. Working alongside Product, Engineering and other functions, you will lead complex strategic and operational initiatives, align stakeholders, manage dependencies, resolve blockers and drive delivery from planning through launch. This is a business execution and operating leadership role—not primarily a consulting or process-improvement role.
You will use data and first-principles thinking to identify root causes, design practical solutions and build scalable operating mechanisms. The role offers high visibility with the CEO and executive team, with opportunities to grow into broader responsibilities across Product, Technology and the wider organisation.
How you’ll make an impact
Drive strategic initiatives: Lead major cross-functional projects, create alignment, clarify ownership, manage risks and make sure initiatives launch effectively.
Build scalable operating mechanisms: Develop practical standards and processes for planning, testing, launch readiness, governance, reporting and cross-functional decision-making.
Improve measurable business outcomes: Take ownership of specific processes or metrics where there is a clear opportunity to improve speed, quality or scalability.
Success means owning and delivering meaningful business projects—not simply diagnosing problems or redesigning processes in isolation. You will build trust with your Product team or pillar, take ownership of strategic initiatives and turn ambiguous priorities into clear, measurable plans that drive delivery through launch.
What we’re looking for: Background and core competencies
You may come from strategy consulting, investment banking, product, technology, operations, professional services or a high-growth company. We’re looking for multiple years of experience in influential, ideally cross-functional roles in fast-paced, high-performance environments, with evidence of problem-solving, ownership and impact rather than a particular career path. Formative experience in STEM studies, high-level Manufacturing, or Professional Services (e.g., Management Consulting, Investment Banking) is valued but not essential
Structured problem-solving: Exceptional ability to navigate ambiguity using first-principles thinking, data and sound judgement—not pattern-matching alone.
Cross-functional delivery: Experience leading high-priority projects end to end, from framing the problem and aligning stakeholders to implementing solutions and delivering measurable outcomes.
Data-driven decision-making: Ability to identify the right metrics, own data collection and analysis, and use dashboards or other tools to make progress, bottlenecks and performance visible.
Building and automation: Willingness to understand processes at ground level, then create or materially improve systems, workflows and operating capabilities from 0 to 1.
Ownership and impact: Take responsibility for complex work, follow through on the details and create lasting value for the teams and business you support.
Influence and communication: Align and constructively challenge stakeholders without formal authority, communicate concisely and clearly at the right altitude and be willing to address difficult issues directly.
