Finance Officer | Hackney | January 2026
Are you an organised and proactive Finance Officer looking to join a busy school finance team from January 2026? A community primary in Hackney needs a detail-oriented Finance Officer to manage transactional processes and support financial reporting.
The Finance Officer will handle day-to-day accounting tasks such as purchase ledger processing, income management, bank reconciliations and basic payroll support. You will work closely with the School Business Manager to ensure timely reporting, assist with audit documentation and support budget monitoring. The role is based in Hackney with an anticipated start date of January 2026 and a handover period to ensure continuity.
Responsibilities
- Manage purchase invoice processing, prepare payments and keep ledgers up to date.
- Monitor school income, support lettings invoicing and carry out bank reconciliations.
- Help prepare monthly finance reports and assist with budget monitoring tasks.
- Provide support for payroll and pensions administration where required.
- Contribute to audit preparedness by collating documentation and supporting internal processes.
Person specification
- Experience in a finance administrator role with strong transactional skills.
- Proficient with accounting systems and Excel; accurate data-entry and reconciliation experience.
- Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Good communicator who works well within school teams in Hackney.
- Able to begin January 2026 and to be based in Hackney.
