Pensions Actuarial and Consulting

Join our Pensions Actuarial and Consulting team for a ten-week summer internship. You will work alongside experienced colleagues on real client projects and learn how mathematics, data and clear communication support decisions about pension schemes.

The internship is designed for students in the penultimate year of university who expect to graduate in 2028. It will help you build analytical, consulting and workplace skills while learning more about a future actuarial career.

Previous pensions or actuarial work experience is not required.

What does the role entail?

  • Carry out calculations for individual pension scheme members and client organisations

  • Help build and check financial models using statistical methods

  • Review data carefully and explain your findings

  • Draft clear communications and supporting materials

  • Research business and market developments

  • Support client work and attend team or client meetings where appropriate

  • Share knowledge and ideas that help improve our service

Your responsibilities will grow as your skills and confidence develop.

What we’re looking for

  • An interest in mathematics, finance and solving problems

  • The ability to review information carefully and explain your thinking

  • A willingness to learn technical and workplace skills

  • The ability to organise your time and meet agreed deadlines

  • The confidence to ask questions and use feedback

  • The ability to work positively with others

  • Being able to value different perspectives and work collaboratively

  • The ability to communicate clearly and listen to others

  • Being able to take care over quality and accuracy

  • A good ability to respond constructively to feedback

  • People who stay curious and look for better ways to solve problems

  • Consistently acting with respect, fairness and integrity

We will assess these behaviours in a structured and consistent way during the recruitment process.

Training and development

You will receive on-the-job learning and support from experienced colleagues. The internship will help you develop actuarial awareness, analytical skills, client communication, presentation experience, and confidence in a professional environment.

Length of programme

This is a ten-week fixed-term internship from Monday 28 June 2027 to Friday 3 September 2027.

Entry requirements

  • You must be in the penultimate year of a full-time university course

  • You must expect to graduate and be available to start full-time employment in September 2028

  • We welcome applications from students studying any subject

  • If you are studying a non-numerical degree, you must have achieved Mathematics at A level grade B or higher, or an equivalent qualification

  • You will need to demonstrate the mathematical and problem-solving potential required for the role during the recruitment process

More information about becoming an actuary can be found here: Become an actuary .

We are not able to provide visa sponsorship for this position and therefore you will need to be able to work in the UK without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Location and working pattern

This role is based in our London office.

To support interns getting the most experience and exposure possible, the expectation is that interns work in their Isio office 5 days a week during their internship.

Reasonable adjustments will be considered where appropriate.

Your future at Isio

Our internships are designed to support progression to our graduate programmes. If you perform strongly, you may be offered a Graduate Analyst role to start after university, subject to business need, role availability, eligibility requirements and the terms communicated at that time.

On the graduate programme, you would receive support to work towards qualification as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

Recruitment process

The recruitment process will include;

  • completing an online application form where we will establish your eligibility for this role

  • an invitation to complete a ‘Skills that Build’ assessment and numerical reasoning online assessment - more information on this is available here

  • online motivation and competency questions requiring video and/or written responses

  • a further review of your application assessing your potential to be successful in this role

  • an interview, in-person, with Managers in this role in the office you have applied to be based in

We will explain what to expect before each stage. The process will assess your motivation, numerical and problem-solving skills, communication, teamwork and approach to learning. It will not assume previous pensions knowledge.

What’s next?

Click ‘Apply’ and follow the simple online application process.

Accessibility

It’s our vision to foster a diverse, inclusive and equitable environment, which recognises individuals for their unique contribution, celebrates their differences without judgement and is committed to driving measurable change.

Isio promises to make the recruitment process as accessible as possible, giving all candidates the opportunity to shine. We will reduce or remove barriers where possible and provide additional support where appropriate.

What reasonable adjustments can we offer?

Adjustments are made on a case-by-case basis, but can include:

  • Extra time to complete assessments

  • Receiving content in accessible formats

If you think you may require a reasonable adjustment to be made at any stage of the recruitment process, please email: [email protected] .
