Role Information
The school is seeking to appoint a passionate and knowledgeable English Teacher to join a well-established and successful English Department. You will teach English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to teach KS5 for a suitably experienced candidate.
The role involves delivering engaging, intellectually stimulating lessons that develop students’ reading, writing, and analytical skills. You will guide students through a rich and diverse literary curriculum, encouraging critical thinking, creativity, and confident expression. The role also includes preparing students for GCSE and A Level examinations, supporting them to achieve strong academic outcomes.
You will contribute to curriculum planning, assessment development, and the sharing of best practice within the department. In addition, you may be involved in enrichment activities such as reading clubs, debating societies, creative writing workshops, and theatre visits, all of which play an important role in the wider life of the school.
Requirements
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in English or a related subject
• Experience teaching English at secondary level
• Strong subject knowledge across English Language and Literature
• Familiarity with GCSE specifications (A Level experience desirable)
• Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills
• A commitment to inclusive teaching and high academic standards
