Trainee Sommelier (Bartender) (Hiring Immediately)

Do you want to join a team of enthusiastic wine lovers? If the answer is yes, read on. Trainee Sommelier ( Bartender) Bartender is where most of our Sommeliers start their Noble Rot journey. The Bartender is responsible for organising and dispensing the wines from our daily changing, 60-bin 'by the glass' menu and as such, is constantly tasting and learning about wine and the producers on our list. You should be passionate about expanding your knowledge of wine and be motivated to use it as a tool for providing warm hospitality. You will be excited by producers featured in our wine lists and Magazine, demonstrated by an ability to discuss them by name and share what makes them special. This is a position well suited for both those with a deep knowledge of the wines on our list but little restaurant service experience as well as those with good service experience but that are at the beginning of their wine adventure. It’s the first step on the Bartender > Sommelier > Senior Sommelier pathway at Noble Rot. Benefits Noble Rot Bartenders receive: Training on new wines, twice a day. A new blind bottle to taste at the end of each day. Internal fine wine training programme held throughout the year (recent sessions include: Champagne and the Grower Revolution & Bordeaux: The Story of the Noughties) A regular calendar of in house visits from winemakers and industry leaders. Opportunities to visit wineries throughout the UK for pruning, harvest and tastings. External wine training including WSET wine qualifications (including Diploma & Educator Programme) & Master of Wine. You decide your weekly hours with most people deciding to join on 6 shifts/45hrs per week (£39'000 - £41’000 pa) or 7 shifts/50hrs per week (£44'000 - £46'000 pa) (tronc inclusive). Industry leading rates of pay with all tronc returned to staff. Fully paid breaks & holidays (basic & tronc for every hour) Paid overtime (basic & tronc for every hour) Discounted wine & 50% off food when eating in at any Noble Rot. Company pension.
