Learning Support Assistant
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Romford is looking to appoint a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join its team on a full-time basis from September 2026 .
About the role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENDCo to support pupils with additional learning needs. You may provide 1:1 support or work with small groups, helping pupils access the curriculum, build confidence, and develop socially and emotionally.
The school is looking for someone who is patient, proactive, and able to build positive relationships with children, staff, and parents.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to pupils with Special Educational Needs
- Work on a 1:1 basis and with small intervention groups
- Support pupils to access learning across the primary curriculum
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs
- Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENDCo, and external professionals where appropriate
- Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment

Requirements
To be considered for the role of Learning Support Assistant you will:
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN is essential
- Experience working within a UK primary school is highly desirable
- Understanding of a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or SEMH
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to supporting the academic and personal development of every child
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
- SEND experience
