The Role A newly created position due to global growth, Hunter are now looking for a European Billing Team Manager to lead a team of 4/5 exceptional people (ranging from Researcher, Associate Relationship Manager, Relationship Manager). In addition, you will be able to grow the team based on the market dynamics and verticals in which we operate in. You will be an active leader, working with the team to create a high performance culture based on our values. In addition, you will have demonstrated strong and consistent team and personal billing performance, creating and executing a European strategy to scale the IVD and Research Tools business and develop other successful billers. You’re still expected to contribute to the teams revenue through business development and individual performance on the team, fulfilling a role that should be seen as a ‘billing manager’. You will join the Hunter Healthcare operational management team and will be given the support to progress through to Partner where you will be able to grow a new business/team and/or are undertaking a more senior management role. Key activities include: • Management of a sales team, comprising Relationship Manager (R&D), Associate Relationship Manager (Sales), Researcher (Marketing, Medical Affairs and Market Access).This will include hiring, development and performance management of the team. • Business planning and market segmentation, in a way that is aligned to your niche and its market drivers, to develop a strategy to scale a business within your scope of operation. • Budgeting and forecasting financial performance, headcount investment planning and commercial fee negotiation to ensure you grow a profitable business. This will include regular reporting of performance vs budget, in particular at the quarterly Ops Management Meetings and in a timely manner when request during the course of a quarter. • Ensuring the team is compliant in the use of the Bullhorn CRM system and in setting up client contracts correctly, building effective working relationships with our business management, ops, finance and marketing support functions. • Delivering strong personal billings, including winning and delivering work at the senior end of your market which in turn will enable you to scale your business across your niche. • Having a positive corporate impact by role modelling demeanor and work ethic, contributing to management meetings, cross-selling Hunter Healthcare services and supporting the success of others in the company. Key Competencies Understanding healthcare: Strong understanding of the IVD/Research Tools (or wider Life Science) market, including keeping abreast of funding, innovation and regulatory policy that will create an opportunity and risk within our market: • Diagnostics vs. Research Tools • Services vs. Products • Data/Bioinformatics • Private Equity/VC and Seed Funding across Europe • Regulatory bodies Expertise within your niche: Expert understanding of the niche or niches that you’re responsible for managing, including understanding market changes and market drivers: • Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs and Market Access • Quality Assurance/Regulatory Affairs • Research & Development • Corporate Development and M&A • HR and Finance Senior network within your market: Develop a small network of trusted executive or senior management sponsors who can advise you on aligning your business to your niche(s) and help you train your team on technical aspects of their market. The relationship with these individuals will be demonstrable as they consistently recommend Hunter Healthcare for work and/or are clients themselves, which will in turn help you to scale your business. Business planning and market segmentation: The ability to effectively analyse the market opportunity within your scope, segmenting the business and creating a plan to scale the team within your niche. This will include effective team implementation of marketing, business development, candidate strategy, job control and commercial fee negotiation actions through regular business reviews and on-desk support. Budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting: A clear understanding of the components that make up a stretching and aspirational annual GP and headcount budget for the team as a key measure of effective implementation of team strategy and commercial success. The ability to accurately forecast forward financial performance and timely financial reporting as required by the business on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. Consistently manage the team to meet budget expectations, mitigating for any risks around team billing and finisher pipeline. Begin to understand costs and profitability attached to the GP and headcount growth attached to the budgeting process. People development and management: Clear evidence of being able to hire and develop at least two Resourcers from entry level trainees into self-sufficient Relationship Managers that are profitable and successful in their own right. Examples of making experienced recruiters more effective. Demonstrating a good understanding of direct report motivations and training and development needs, positively affecting their performance and personal development through regular business reviews, on-desk support and PDP planning sessions. Addressing underperformance appropriately and in a timely fashion. Retaining high performers within the team and/or business. Cross-selling our services and corporate impact: Evidence of being able to consistently articulate the wider Hunter offer, including consistently winning business on behalf of teams outside of your direct scope. Evidence of support for the success of others in the company by providing advice and training where appropriate and being a role model on values and behaviours, both internally and externally. A positive and constructive contribution to the management team meetings. Bullhorn: Ensuring the team is using Bullhorn (our CRM system) correctly and recording all people, company and assignment information, as well as logging key sales activities. You will measure the team against these inputs and outputs to facilitate you scaling your business. Compliance processes: Building an in depth understanding of the billing and other legal and contract compliance issues involved with placing talent across Europe. Primary Objectives The European Team Manager role is effectively a billing management role where you are responsible for developing a small team of recruiters across the niche or the niches within your scope. You will blend being a leading individual performer with creating an efficient and scalable business through developing other billers.
