ITU Sister / Charge Nurse - Band 7 (Critical Care)
Location: The Princess Grace Hospital, London
Department: Intensive Care Unit (Critical Care)
Salary: Competitive + Shift Enhancement + Benefits

Are you an experienced ITU Sister or Charge Nurse looking for a more dynamic and rewarding role? Or perhaps you're a seasoned Band 7 critical care leader seeking a new challenge in a world-class private hospital? At The Princess Grace Hospital, we're offering an exciting opportunity to join our growing, high-performing Critical Care team

About Our Critical Care Unit

Our state-of-the-art 9-bed Intensive Care Unit is designed to deliver Level 3 care, featuring four open bays, four private side rooms, and a dedicated negative pressure room. We specialise in managing complex elective surgical cases, including spinal, colorectal, DIEP flap reconstruction, VATS, nephrectomy, and advanced gynaecological procedures. In collaboration with our Urgent Care Centre and Acute Medicine Ward, we also care for a wide range of complex medical patients.

Our Critical Care Outreach Team plays a vital role in ensuring patient safety and continuity of care across the hospital. From comprehensive step-down reviews to rapid response for deteriorating patients, we are committed to delivering excellence beyond the ICU. Education and development are at the heart of our culture-we actively share our expertise and provide upskilling opportunities to staff across the hospital.

As a Band 7 ITU Sister/Charge Nurse, you will take on a pivotal leadership role within our Critical Care Unit. You'll provide expert clinical guidance, manage complex care packages, and ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality, evidence-based nursing care from admission through to discharge. You will lead and support junior nurses and multidisciplinary colleagues, oversee the efficient use of resources, and collaborate closely with other departments to ensure seamless patient care. You'll also drive audits, research, and service improvement initiatives, while playing an active role in educating staff in both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for managing critically ill patients. Upholding professional standards and engaging in continuous development will be central to your success in this role.

At HCA UK we care about what you care about. We care that you want to deliver the very best care. We care that you want a career you can be proud of. We care that you want working conditions that support your health and wellbeing. Let us care for you and your career, the same way you do for others.

What you'll bring:
  • Current experience working in an ITU/ICU setting, with proven leadership and in-charge responsibilities
  • NMC registration as a qualified nurse in the UK
  • 60 Critical Care Credits, demonstrating advanced clinical knowledge and commitment to professional development
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification, with strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills
  • Ability to lead, manage, and motivate a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced critical care environment
  • Advanced assessment qualification (desirable)
  • Mentorship training or teaching experience (desirable)
