The Role

The Development Team secures vital funding to support core programming and public engagement, exhibitions, collections care and major capital projects at Royal Museums Greenwich. We work with philanthropists, companies and trusts & foundations, building a community of generous and loyal supporters from our Patrons Circle and legacies to major grants and corporate partners. Our current focus is to secure a team target of £2M revenue income in this financial year, and deliver the funding needed to deliver First Light, a landmark capital transformation of the Royal Observatory Greenwich.

Reporting to the Senior Manager: Development Business Operations, and working with all our fundraisers, the post holder will play a vital role in creating action led prospect pipelines.

Key responsibilities include the identification and assessment of new prospective donors to increase Royal Museums Greenwich's donor pool - based on a solid understanding of current projects and priorities. Prospect pipeline activity will be supported by detailed research profiles and due diligence, ensuring that fundraisers are informed and focussed and to ensure prospect cultivation actions and deadlines are regularly recorded, kept on track and on target.

The role is responsible for maintaining the department's systems, processes and data - always aware that effective management maximises income generation and donor engagement and always seeking improvement in these areas. This role has responsibility for day-to-day management of, and training on, the fundraising database: Blackbaud’s RE NXT. The database is a vital tool in recording fundraising opportunities and actions, recording gifts, stewardship and donor interactions with Royal Museums Greenwich. As such, a good understanding of data protection law and how it is applied will play a large part in this role.

The successful candidate will have a track record in successful research, an interest in the heritage sector, and will demonstrate strong writing and analytical skills. They will be able to work on their own initiative, as well as having an understanding of the importance of data management and how process improvement can lead to more efficient working.

This is a full-time, permanent role in Band 6 - Management and Competent Specialists. Core hours of work will be 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 9am - 5pm, with an additional hour to be worked as agreed upon with management. Occasional evening working will be required - as part of the wider team - to support fundraising events.

Salary: £31,400 per annum.
