Controls Engineer
Currently functioning as the group's hub for the air conditioning sector in Europe, the facility collaborates with other group factories located in Japan, Thailand, and China. In 2009, M-ACE began to expand by entering the domestic heating market with the production of air-to-water heat pumps. By utilising innovative and high-quality proven technologies, M-ACE manufactures air conditioners and heat pumps with built-in advanced intelligence. Looking to the future, we will continue to introduce new models to comply with European regulations and meet diverse market needs. An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Production Engineering team for a Controls Engineer, based in our manufacturing plant in Livingston, West Lothian. This role plays a key part in the development, commissioning, and support of controls, automation and smart technology work within Mitsubishi Electric. The role holder will be responsible for documenting and maintaining safety and technical standards in new and old systems., As Controls Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Design, develop, improve and program control systems on new and legacy equipment.
- Configure and implement Scada and HMI systems for traceability and industrial automation.
- Troubleshoot and optimize machine issues.
- Aid manufacturing engineers and maintenance technicians with fault finding on large breakdowns where necessary
- Collaborate with engineering teams across multiple sites to assist in project, equipment and new process development.
- Maintain change control for machine and systems software and documentation across all sites and machine lifecycles.
- Understand and ensure compliance with relevant H&S regulations and quality standards BEng in Electrical/Controls Engineer or similar discipline
- Detailed experience in the development and design of control systems using PLC's, HMI and Scada systems in the manufacturing environment ideally using Mitsubishi
- Experience defining specification and configuring VFD/VSD drive and motor systems
- Experienced knowledge in comms protocols such as EthernetIP, Modbus, CC-Link and Serial Comms
- Experience Integrating and modifying existing Controls systems within a 'live' manufacturing environment
- High level knowledge in writing and understanding electrical schematics
- Good communication skills both verbal, written and can work individually or in a team environment Preferred:
- 5+ Years of Controls Engineering Experience or similar Mitsubishi Air Conditioning Systems launched its operations in the UK air conditioning market in 1985. The Livingston factory, located 18 miles from Edinburgh, Scotland's capital, was officially registered in 1993. Production began in 1994, and M-ACE serves as the central hub for Mitsubishi's heating and air-conditioning operations in Europe, employing around 1000 personnel across its seven locations.
