Learning Support Assistant

Contract Type: Full-Time (Term-Time Only)
Salary: £110 - £135 per day About the Role We are looking for a passionate and resilient Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist secondary provision supporting students aged 11-19 with Special Education Needs. This role focuses on helping students overcome barriers to learning, providing both academic support and personal development guidance. You will play a vital role in enabling young people to build confidence, develop resilience, and achieve their potential in a safe and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities Provide tailored learning support across English, Maths, PSHE, Science and other key subjects for individuals and small groups.
Reinforce subject knowledge and key skills, including literacy, numeracy, and personal development.
Work collaboratively with teachers to deliver engaging and differentiated learning activities.
Support positive behaviour through consistent strategies and de-escalation techniques.
Promote inclusion and encourage participation, ensuring all students feel valued and supported.
Offer feedback to teaching staff on student progress, helping shape future planning and interventions.Requirements Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, or in a similar role within secondary, SEN, or alternative provision settings.
Strong subject knowledge at Key Stages 3-5 subjects.
Experience supporting students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, or those at risk of exclusion.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to inspire trust and motivate learners.
Calm, patient, and resilient approach, able to adapt to a variety of situations.
