SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: East Finchley
Start dates: Immediate to February April starts available
Contract: Full-time Destination Education is recruiting a number of SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils in mainstream primary schools in East Finchley. These are class-based roles focused on helping children with identified additional needs to access learning alongside their peers, in line with their EHCPs.You will be working within a structured classroom environment, supporting pupils either 1:1 or in small groups, depending on individual need. The roles require a consistent, patient approach and a clear understanding of how to support pupils with specific learning, communication, or behavioural needs while promoting inclusion and independence.There are multiple vacancies available, with start dates between now and February, as well as April starts. These roles suit candidates looking for stability, long-term placements, or the opportunity to secure a future role ahead of the summer term. Key responsibilities
- Provide in-class SEN support within a mainstream primary setting
- Support the delivery and monitoring of EHCP targets
- Assist pupils with needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and speech and language difficulties
- Promote engagement, independence, and positive behaviour
- Adapt learning support and resources to meet individual needs
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo, and external professionals
- Experience supporting children with SEN in a primary school setting
- Working knowledge of EHCPs
- Calm, patient, and consistent approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Relevant SEN training or qualifications are desirable but not essential
