Growth Engineer
N.B. This role is remote in the UK only at this time.
About Flash Pack:
When was the last time you made a new friend? The quality of your relationships is the single most important factor for your mental health. Travel has a unique ability to fast-forward the friendship-making process, which is why we’re on a mission to create one million meaningful friendships using the power of travel and technology as a platform for human connection.
We create curated social adventures for solo travellers in their 30s, 40s and 50s. Since launching in 2014, we’ve seen impressive year-on-year growth and become the category leader in a thriving, rapidly expanding market with the majority of our business now in the US.
We’re well-funded, we’ve shaken up an outdated industry, and we see ourselves as a friendship company far more than a travel company. Our culture is down-to-earth, hard-working and compassionate, built by exceptional people who care deeply about doing work we’re proud of.
You can find out more about our culture and life at Flash Pack here .
The Role:
We’re looking for a Growth Engineer to join our team! You’ll be working on the full lifecycle of growth initiatives - from shaping hypotheses with Product and Marketing, to building and shipping full stack features in React and TypeScript, to digging into the data and learning what moves the needle.
This role exists to accelerate the way we connect solo travellers across the globe. Your work will directly impact how we grow - whether that’s increasing conversion, improving retention, or helping more people discover the value of our community. It’s a mix of experimentation, iteration, and customer insight.
If you thrive on A/B testing, measure success in customer impact rather than lines of code, and love the buzz of seeing customers react to something you shipped that day, this could be the role for you! You can expect autonomy, a culture of connection and continuous learning.
In line with our salary framework, the salary for this role is £65,000 to £85,000 p.a. depending on experience. We also offer stock options after your first year with the company.
This is a remote-flexible role - in practice this means that we meet in person as a team every 6-8 weeks in London, and the rest of the time you can work remote in the country the role is hired in (UK).
Where you will spend your time:
Building features in a full-stack fashion (although primarily frontend) using React and TypeScript.
Driving feature development by leading technical exploration, defining and scoping work collaboratively, and keeping everyone aligned.
Running A/B tests and experiments, forming hypotheses, implementing features, and analysing results.
Maintaining and refactoring different services, keeping the codebase clean for the next engineer.
Leveraging customer interviews and data insights, and collaborating with Product & Design to craft friction-free flows that get customers excited.
Instrumenting analytics and event tracking so we can continually learn and improve.
What we'd love to see from you:
Proven delivery of web products using React, TypeScript and modern front-end tooling, with clean, maintainable code.
Comfort across the stack (Node, APIs, SQL or similar) so you can set up new endpoints when a feature needs it.
Data-driven decision-making —you frame problems with metrics, spot insights quickly and optimise for business impact.
Strong product empathy & UX instincts , turning complex user journeys into simple and engaging flows.
Clear, collaborative communication that builds trust with engineers, designers, marketers and stakeholders alike.
Hands-on ownership of A/B experiments —designing hypotheses, instrumenting tests, understanding the data and communicating results.
Driven by a growth mindset, you actively seek feedback and learning opportunities to level up your craft, and leverage new AI tools to improve your productivity and maximise your impact.
Hands-on experience in lean and autonomous teams , comfortable with ambiguity, minimal process, and rapid iteration. You favour pragmatic solutions over theoretical perfection.
We’re after the right person and if you don’t quite hit all the criteria, we’d still encourage you to apply. We’d love to chat and see if you could be a great fit for Flash Pack.
Interview Process 🛠️:
Our interviews take place on Google Meet and usually consist of the following stages:
Introductory chat with our talent team to see if there is a match between your skills and values and that of Flash Pack (30-45 mins)
A competency and skills-based interview with the hiring manager and a key stakeholder to hear more about your background and experience and to give you a deep dive into the role (45-60 mins)
A take-home task relating to the role with the hiring manager and a key stakeholder to see how you’d solve a problem and present this back to the team (~60 mins)
Meet with one of our founders for any final questions you or we have (45-60 mins)
