Your Opportunity
As part of our graduate programme, you’ll choose your preferred sector and location, with opportunities across:
Electricity Energy Networks
Within our Energy Networks business we are supporting our clients roll out the largest scale investment in the electrical transmission and distribution infrastructure in decades. You will have the opportunity to work within the following disciplines:
- Primary plant systems from 11kV to >400kV
- Protection, control, and secondary systems
- Cable systems (terrestrial and subsea)
- Power systems analysis
Nuclear
Be part of the safe and responsible transformation of legacy nuclear infrastructure. You’ll contribute to high-impact decommissioning projects that protect people and the planet, while gaining exposure to cutting-edge engineering and regulatory environments.
Thermal Generation
Support the evolution of thermal energy assets to meet modern demands with efficiency and sustainability. You’ll help optimise performance, reduce emissions, and ensure operational excellence across diverse technologies.
As part of these teams, you will work closely with our experts to provide our clients high-value technical support through all phases of development:
- Optioneering and cost benefit analysis to support our clients to determine the optimum way to approach their challenges
- Front-End-Engineering-Design (FEED) to progress a concept design to a maturity that can be procured, including cost estimation
- Detailed design for construction, developing complex BIM models in cutting edge software environments
- Construction and operation monitoring to ensure assets are built and operated to design
- Interface with various global stakeholders ranging from utilities, transmission network operators, EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) Contractors, OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), Investors, Developers, and Government and Regulatory bodies in a fast-paced environment and take part in high-profile projects with dynamic challenges.

Some of our opportunities will require you to be eligible to achieve security clearance, this is shown in the selection choices. Security clearance is dictated by the types of projects we work on and normally requires you to be a UK British national or lived in the UK for five years or more.
We have opportunities in the following locations: Brighton, Croydon Glasgow and York
Applications for this role will be reviewed throughout October and November and successful applicants will then be invited to an interview/assessment centre in December.

All our opportunities require a relevant bachelor’s degree as a minimum requirement, some of our opportunities will also require a master’s degree - this will be reflected in the list of opportunities available in our application form.
To be eligible for this opportunity, you will have less than 12 months’ relevant experience (excluding placements) and have a degree (obtained no earlier than 2024) or expected to achieve one of the following degree disciplines:
- Electrical Engineering
- Power Systems Engineering

Mott MacDonald Ltd. are not currently offering sponsorship to candidates under the Skilled Worker visa route in the UK. This decision is as a consequence of the changes made to the Skilled Worker route by the UK Government in April 2024.
Our ethos is to develop, train and retain our graduates and therefore we are looking for a long-term relationship with our graduates.
