Job Description

The Role

Aligned with Fastmarkets' vision of being a customer-centric organization, the Strategic Industry Expert (SIE) plays a key role in translating our industry-leading services into tailored solutions that meet the strategic needs of our clients.

This role combines deep market expertise with a consultative, diagnostic sales approach to understand customer's strategic priorities and position Fastmarkets' world-class offerings effectively .

As part of the role, you will engage with our customers who have exposure to our metals vertical offerings as an industry expert and provide valuable insights to key senior stakeholders in the customer organizations.

The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in how Fastmarkets' offerings drive strategic value for client decision-making and is able to leverage our extensive team of market analysts and price reporters strategically.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support growth of Fastmarkets' target sector business - metals, mining, minerals, automotive OEMs, physical traders and other strategic customers by being the strategic industry expert
  • Own and present in-depth industry insights (positioned as Fastmarkets Point of Views (PoVs) with authority, demonstrating how Fastmarkets' solutions meet client needs.
  • Drive significant revenue growth by identifying opportunities to expand business through:
    • Supporting successful wins with key existing customers by providing expanded value through targeted engagement and through embedding our products and services better
    • Support growth through new business - by supporting targeting and conversion of new customers in target markets
  • Collaborate with Account Managers and Commercial teams to drive revenue growth and maintain accurate sales forecasts.
  • Achieve significant double-digit growth from cross-commodity sales to Fastmarkets' largest customers and customers with high-growth potential
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, networking actively across the industry to develop valuable connections.
  • Support robust and growing sales pipeline, ensuring accurate performance forecasts and meeting growth targets, in collaboration with Account Managers
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to refine strategies, improve product offerings, and provide enhanced customer support in the region.
  • Conduct and document high-impact pre- and post-sales activities, ensuring comprehensive client engagement and contribute to quarterly and annual sales and financial planning cycles.
  • Travel as required for client meetings, conferences, and regional seminars (minimum 30%).

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, driven, and have a passion to be part of a fast-paced, successful team. Being a strong team player is also important as well as someone who is happy to work flexibly.
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in the target commodities markets - metals, mining & minerals, with a proven track record of success.
  • Alternatively, experience in working with large established metals & mining conglomerates, automotive sector OEMs where you have had exposure to commodities procurement, planning and/or risk management.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong understanding of target market customer workflows and the application of pricing data within commodities markets.
  • Excellent communication skills, with proven success in both one-on-one and large group presentations.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills; a true team player with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Good to have: Understanding of sales processes for market/data intelligence products, Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and other relevant sales technologies.
