We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and experienced Year 5 Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Tooting, starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who enjoys delivering engaging lessons that inspire pupils academically, socially, and emotionally in Upper Key Stage 2.

The school has a strong ethos of inclusion, collaboration, and high expectations for all pupils. Staff work together to create a structured, stimulating, and nurturing learning environment where children feel valued, confident, and motivated to learn. Senior leadership is approachable and supportive, providing mentoring, guidance, and professional development opportunities to ensure staff can thrive.

As a Year 5 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess lessons across the Key Stage 2 curriculum. You will foster independence, resilience, and a love of learning while ensuring all pupils make excellent progress. Collaboration with teaching assistants, colleagues, and parents is key to ensuring each pupil receives personalised support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a structured, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment

  • Track pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records

  • Provide targeted interventions to support pupil attainment

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and senior leaders

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress

  • Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and whole-school initiatives

  • Support enrichment activities, school events, and extra-curricular opportunities

  • Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Have experience teaching Upper Key Stage 2, ideally Year 5

  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills

  • Be reflective, proactive, and adaptable

  • Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing

  • Work collaboratively as part of a professional, supportive team

The school is located in Tooting, with excellent transport links and a supportive local community. Staff benefit from a professional, inclusive, and well-resourced working environment where collaboration, development, and wellbeing are prioritised.
