As a leading, global credit rating agency, Fitch Group (“Fitch”) delivers vital credit and risk insights, robust data, and dynamic tools to champion more efficient, transparent financial markets. With over 100 years of experience and colleagues in over 30 countries, Fitch’s culture of credibility, independence, and transparency is embedded throughout its structure, which includes Fitch Ratings, one of the world’s top three credit ratings agencies, and Fitch Solutions, a leading provider of financial information, data and analytics. With dual headquarters in London and New York, Fitch is owned by Hearst.

At Fitch, the combined power of our global perspectives is what differentiates us. It is the strength of our business. It comes from people around the world in a shared pursuit: to equal something greater than they could ever accomplish alone. Every team member is essential to our business and every perspective is critical for our success. Develop yourself in a culture that values flexibility, expects your opinion and trusts your decisions. Together we evolve and so will you, in an environment that asks you to challenge yourself – and us.

About the Team:

The Fitch Legal team provides legal advice to its clients across the Fitch Group in understanding, evaluating and resolving legal issues relevant to their specific areas. The global team consists of 16 lawyers and paraprofessionals based in London, New York, Tokyo and Hong Kong.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • Providing legal advice to credit analysts regarding structured finance, commercial lending and securities transactions
  • Analyzing, drafting and negotiating financial data agreements
  • Interpreting and negotiating both routine and complex contracts relating to, for example, licensing agreements and vendor contracts
  • Performing company secretarial work; and
  • Advising on various regulatory matters and submissions affecting Fitch’s ratings and non-ratings financial information services businesses.

You May be a Good Fit if:

  • 4-10 years PQE
  • Preference for UK-qualified solicitor, although we will consider other bar memberships
  • Excellent written and spoken English; fluency in other language(s) a plus, especially widely spoken European languages, although not a requirement; and
  • Excellent client references.

What Would Make You Stand Out:

  • Ability to handle and prioritize a diverse range of matters-going from the mundane to the very complex-and manage simultaneous time-sensitive tasks for a diverse clientele
  • Comfortable working and communicating with in-house clients with various levels of experience and positions within a company
  • Decisiveness, brevity and clarity in spoken and written communication; and
  • Ability to work independently under guidance from more senior members of the Legal team.

Why Choose Fitch:

  • Hybrid Work Environment: 3 days a week in office required
  • A Culture of Learning & Mobility: Dedicated trainings, leadership development and mentorship programs designed to ensure that your time at Fitch will be a continuous learning opportunity
  • Investing in Your Future: Retirement planning and tuition reimbursement programs that empower you to achieve your short and long-term goals
  • Promoting Health & Wellbeing: Comprehensive healthcare offerings that enable physical, mental, financial, social, and occupational wellbeing
  • Supportive Parenting Policies: Family-friendly policies, including a generous global parental leave plan, designed to help you balance career and family life effectively
  • Inclusive Work Environment : A collaborative workplace where all voices are valued, with Employee Resource Groups that unite and empower our colleagues around the globe
  • Dedication to Giving Back: Paid volunteer days, matched funding for donations and ample opportunities to volunteer in your community

Fitch is committed to providing global securities markets with objective, timely, independent and forward-looking credit opinions. To protect Fitch’s credibility and reputation, our employees must take every precaution to avoid conflicts of interest or any appearance of a conflict of interest. Should you be successful in the recruitment process at Fitch you will be asked to declare any securities holdings and other potential conflicts prior to commencing employment. If you, or your immediate family, have any holdings that may conflict with your work responsibilities, you may be asked to divest yourself of them before beginning work.
