Premises Manager Role in a High-Performing Primary School
A High-Performing Primary School in Greenwich is seeking to appoint an experienced and dedicated Premises Manager to oversee the management of its buildings, grounds, and facilities. About the Role
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the school site, ensuring that all buildings, outdoor spaces, and facilities are maintained to a high standard and remain fully compliant with statutory health and safety requirements.
Working closely with the School Business Manager and Senior Leadership Team, you will oversee planned and reactive maintenance, supervise contractors, coordinate compliance inspections, manage the premises team, and support ongoing site improvement projects. You will also be responsible for site security, emergency procedures, and ensuring the school remains a safe and welcoming environment throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the daily management of the school premises and grounds
Coordinate planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs
Supervise contractors and monitor maintenance contracts
Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and statutory inspections
Maintain accurate compliance records and site documentation
Oversee site security, access arrangements, and emergency procedures
Support facilities budgeting and estate improvement projects
Ensure the school environment remains clean, safe, and fully operational

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Previous experience in premises, estates, facilities, or site management
Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and building compliance
Experience managing contractors and supervising maintenance activities
Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to prioritise workloads and respond effectively to operational demands
Desirable
Experience working within a school or educational environment
IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent health and safety qualification
Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities within schools
Experience managing facilities budgets and capital improvement projects
