£120,000 – £150,000 + bonus + full package

The company

An established and highly respected main contractor operating across the London and South East markets is seeking a Managing Director to lead the business through its next phase of growth.

This contractor has built a strong reputation over many years for delivering high-quality fit out and new build projects across commercial, mixed-use, education, and healthcare sectors. With a current turnover in the £30m–£50m range and a strong secured pipeline, the business is now looking to appoint a Managing Director who can take ownership of strategy, performance, and long-term direction.

This is not a turnaround role. The business is stable, profitable, and well regarded. The appointment is about leadership, evolution, and controlled growth. The incoming Managing Director will work closely with the existing board and shareholders, with full autonomy to shape the future of the company while maintaining its core values and reputation.

Projects typically range from £2m to £25m, delivered through repeat client relationships and negotiated routes rather than low-margin tender-only work.

Strengthening and mentoring the senior leadership team

Maintaining strong client and consultant relationships

Oversight of commercial, operational, and financial performance

Ideal background:

Proven experience at Managing Director or Board Director level within a main contracting environment

Strong understanding of fit out and/or new build delivery

*

Commercially astute with strong financial awareness

*

Credible, calm leadership style with the ability to influence at board and client level
