JOB OVERVIEW

A high–impact opportunity is available to shape enterprise data strategy, governance and insight. The Director of Data & Analytics will report to the CIO and influence Board–level decision–making, regulatory assurance and customer outcomes.

The Director of Data & Analytics will lead governance, engineering, analytics and BI, building trusted data foundations while advancing AI, predictive insight and reusable data products.

Working across technology and operational teams, the Director of Data & Analytics will strengthen data literacy, assurance and value from investment.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Director of Data & Analytics include:

• Data Strategy and Alignment: Define and deliver the enterprise Data Strategy in line with organisational, regulatory and technology priorities
• Enterprise Data Operating Model: Establish a scalable model with clear ownership, accountability and federated or hub–and–spoke principles where appropriate
• Data Governance and Stewardship: Lead data governance, quality, standards, stewardship, definitions, lineage and controls across the organisation
• Trusted Data and Reporting: Ensure reporting and analytics use governed, auditable data products and a single version of the truth
• Data Platforms and Architecture: Oversee secure, resilient and scalable data platforms, pipelines and architecture
• COPE Data Products: Drive Create Once, Publish Everywhere principles so data products are reusable organisation–wide
• Advanced Analytics, AI and Data Science: Develop predictive analytics, AI and data science capabilities aligned with priorities and measurable value
• Data Risk and Regulatory Assurance: Own the data risk position and ensure regulatory reporting is supported by robust, auditable data
• Executive and Board Assurance: Provide assurance on data quality, governance and control effectiveness to Executive and Board–level stakeholders
• Team Leadership and Capability: Lead a multidisciplinary data function and build organisational data capability and literacy
• Stakeholder Partnership and Data Culture: Partner across operational and technology teams to embed standards and insight–led decision–making
• Budget and Value: Manage the Data & Analytics budget, ensuring value for money and measurable outcomes from data and technology investment

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

• Degree in Data, Analytics, Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
• Professional certifications in data management, governance or analytics
• Extensive experience leading enterprise data functions across governance, engineering, analytics and BI
• Proven track record defining and delivering data strategies and enterprise operating models
• Strong knowledge of modern data platforms, architectures, cloud technologies and analytics
• Deep understanding of data governance, regulatory compliance, assurance frameworks and risk management
• Experience delivering organisation–wide transformation through data, analytics and insight
• Proven ability to influence Executive teams, Boards and senior stakeholders
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across governance, engineering, analytics and BI
• Ability to balance strategic leadership with operational delivery and risk management

DESIRABLE

• Social housing or local authority experience, or a background in a similar sector, is highly desirable
• Executive leadership or management qualification
