Keep your streets clean and your community proud.
Join our Lambeth team as an HGV Refuse and Recycling Driver and play a vital role in keeping your community clean, safe, and sustainable.
Working alongside a professional and friendly team, you’ll deliver a full waste and recycling service to local residents and businesses. Your efforts will help maintain high standards across the community while providing excellent customer service every step of the way.
You’ll be entrusted to:
- Complete a pre-planned route as part of a team of two drivers, collecting waste from estates and commercial properties.
- Be the public face of Serco in the community.
- Ensure that your vehicle safety checks are completed and that your truck is work ready and road safe, before setting off on your round
In our team, we all pitch in! You will alternate driving duties with your colleague, staying active and helping to get things done quickly and efficiently.
You’ll be a great fit for this role if you...
- Hold a valid Class 1 or 2 driving licence and a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
- Are happy to work as a driver/loader
- Are physically fit and healthy (this is a must, due to the nature of the work!)
- Are a dedicated, friendly and professional team player
- Are willing to go the extra mile on your rounds to help your team hit its targets
- Are conscientious and able to operate a electronic tablet to log your daily work.
What’s in it for you? Our benefits are designed to put you first. Alongside meaningful and active work in your community, you’ll get:
- Pension: Up to 6% contributory pension scheme
- Holidays: 20 days plus bank holidays
- Training and development: A wide range of learning opportunities with over 1,100 internal courses available, funding for qualifications and apprenticeships, mentoring opportunities, and a focus on internal progression.
- Health and wellbeing: 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, Bupa Anytime HealthLine, wellbeing app, Simplyhealth cash plans to claim back money towards healthcare costs, 30% off at Serco-managed leisure centres. An on-site Physio.
- Discounts: Save across around 1,000 retailers, from food and clothing to days out, entertainment and travel.
We’re a proud holder of the Gold Inclusive Employer Standard, a Disability Confident Leader, and a top three Great British Employer of Veterans, championing fair access to employment and equal opportunities for all. As such, we’ll make reasonable adjustments from interview through to employment. As part of the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the job will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities at an interview. At Serco we support fair access to employment for those with unspent criminal convictions through the ‘Ban the Box’ pledge (some may be exempt due to the nature of the role and the security clearance required). Impact a better future — change starts on your doorstep. Apply today. For help with your application, or to discuss your eligibility, please contact 0345 010 4000.
