Installation Technicians ( 2 Roles Available)
Role summary
We are recruiting Installation Technicians to support and expand our UK delivery capability. You’ll install, commission, and maintain LoRaWAN gateways and IoT sensors across customer sites nationwide. The work is practical and hands-on: site surveys, mounting hardware safely and neatly, validating connectivity and data quality, and producing high-quality job documentation that supports scale.
This role suits someone who enjoys field work, takes pride in tidy installs, and can follow a defined process while still thinking on their feet when sites don’t match the plan.
Key responsibilities:
Pre-install / site readiness
- Conduct site surveys (remote and on-site) to confirm gateway/sensor locations , coverage considerations, mounting method, power availability, and any access constraints.
- Identify risks (working at height, restricted areas, asbestos registers where applicable, client H&S rules) and follow safe systems of work.
Installation & commissioning
- Install and commission LoRaWAN gateways, antennas and sensors to agreed standards (mounting, labelling, documenting).
- Configure devices using approved tools/apps and ensure they are correctly registered and communicating with the back-office platform.
- Validate performance: basic signal checks, uplink confirmation, data sanity checks, and completion of commissioning steps.
Quality assurance & documentation
- Complete job documentation accurately and promptly: checklists, test results, device IDs/serials, location notes, and installation photos .
- Ensure installations meet internal QA standards and client requirements, supporting high-volume rollout consistency.
Troubleshooting & support
- Diagnose and resolve issues during install: power, mounting constraints, RF/coverage, connectivity, device faults.
- Escalate appropriately with clear evidence (photos, logs, symptoms, steps taken) and support remote teams to resolve quickly.
Maintenance & logistics
- Perform planned maintenance, swaps, and battery replacements as required.
- Manage stock of equipment/tools responsibly and maintain van/vehicle readiness (if applicable).
Essential skills & experience:
- Proven practical experience in one or more of: field installations, low-voltage systems, networking installs, structured cabling, alarms/CCTV, access control, telecoms, or IoT deployments.
- Comfortable using smartphone/tablet apps for workflows, evidence capture, and configuration.
- Ability to follow a process precisely, while adapting to real-world site conditions.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset; able to communicate technical issues clearly to non-technical site contacts and internal teams.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel (including occasional early starts/overnights depending on geography).
- Right to work in the UK.
Technical (nice to have, not mandatory):
- LoRaWAN knowledge (gateways, join methods, placement considerations) — we can train the right candidate.
- Basic IP networking knowledge (DHCP/static IP, DNS, firewalls/ports, Wi-Fi vs Ethernet) and comfort speaking to customer IT.
- Experience with cloud IoT platforms, device onboarding, or ticketing systems.
- Any RF awareness (antenna placement, interference basics) is a plus.
Safety & compliance
- Awareness of on-site H&S requirements; comfortable with RAMS-style working.
- Working at height / PASMA / IPAF (if relevant to your installs) — desirable.
- ECS/CSCS or equivalent (if you operate in construction-like environments) — desirable.
- Professional approach to data security and confidentiality.
