Reception Teacher — Independent School — Wandsworth
An accomplished Independent School in Wandsworth requires a warm and experienced Reception Teacher to join the Early Years team on a Part-Time basis with a January 2026 start. The Reception Teacher will take part in pre-term planning before the January 2026 start, attend induction during January 2026, and commence teaching from January 2026. The Independent School's EYFS provision combines play-based learning with purposeful adult-led sessions, providing the Reception Teacher with an excellent platform for impact.

Reception Teacher — key responsibilities
• Lead daily phonics, language and early maths sessions as the Reception Teacher.
• Plan continuous provision, observe and assess progress, and use evidence to inform next steps as the Reception Teacher.
• Work with families to support learning at home and coordinate transition into Year 1 as the Reception Teacher.
• Engage in professional learning and mentor meetings starting around the January 2026 start as the Reception Teacher.
Professional development and team culture for the Reception Teacher:
The Reception Teacher will be part of a supportive team where coaching, planning time and peer observation are regular features. The Independent School provides bespoke CPD for Reception Teachers, enabling the Reception Teacher to develop expertise in areas such as early language, phonics progression and outdoor pedagogy. The Reception Teacher will be encouraged to lead initiatives and share good practice across year groups once settled after the January 2026 start.
Community engagement and impact:
The Reception Teacher will run parent workshops, support transition activities and develop materials that help families continue learning at home. The Reception Teacher will take part in open mornings and events around the January 2026 start, establishing strong relationships between the Independent School and local families. Working Part-Time, the Reception Teacher will still play a central role and will be included in planning meetings and school development work following the January 2026 start.
Candidate requirements for the Reception Teacher:
• QTS/EYTS or equivalent, with proven Reception experience as the Reception Teacher.
• A creative, reflective practitioner who models high-quality adult–child interaction as the Reception Teacher.
• Ready to plan before January 2026, attend induction in January 2026, and teach from January 2026 as the Part-Time Reception Teacher.
