ROLE OVERVIEW
The Associate Director is a senior leadership role within Fincham Communications, responsible for overseeing key client relationships, driving strategic communications campaigns, leading and mentoring teams, and supporting the overall growth and reputation of the agency.
Working closely with the Founders and senior leadership team, the Associate Director will ensure the delivery of best-in-class PR strategies across fashion, lifestyle and luxury accounts, while fostering strong media, influencer and industry relationships.
The successful candidate will be a highly connected communications professional with strong leadership capabilities, excellent commercial awareness, and a passion for delivering creative and impactful PR campaigns.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
Lead and oversee a portfolio of key fashion, lifestyle and luxury client accounts
Drive strategic communications planning and execution across all campaigns
Build and maintain strong senior-level client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor
Develop innovative PR strategies that align with client objectives and cultural trends
Lead media outreach across print, digital, broadcast and social platforms
Maintain and strengthen relationships with editors, journalists, stylists, influencers and industry contacts
Oversee major launches, events, press days, Fashion Week activity and VIP initiatives
Ensure exceptional client servicing and consistent communication across all accounts
Mentor and develop junior and mid-level team members, supporting career progression and performance
Oversee account profitability, budgets and resource allocation
Identify and support new business opportunities, proposals and agency growth initiatives
Collaborate closely with leadership to enhance agency processes, creative output and client retention
Ensure Fincham Communications maintains a strong presence within the fashion and lifestyle industries
Confidently present campaign ideas, results and strategic recommendations to clients
Handle high-pressure situations with professionalism, discretion and problem-solving capabilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Client Leadership
Oversee the strategic direction and execution of client campaigns
Maintain senior client relationships and ensure client satisfaction across all accounts
Identify opportunities to increase client visibility and media impact
Deliver innovative and culturally relevant campaign ideas
Manage complex projects with excellent attention to detail and organisation
Media, VIP & Influencer Relations
Maintain high-level media and influencer relationships
Secure impactful editorial placements and brand features
Oversee VIP dressing opportunities, partnerships and influencer activations
Lead press strategies surrounding launches, events and Fashion Weeks
Team Management & Leadership
Manage, mentor and motivate Account Managers, Account Executives and showroom teams
Conduct regular team check-ins, training and performance reviews
Foster a collaborative, positive and high-performing team culture
Ensure workloads are effectively managed across the department
Business Development & Agency Growth
Support and lead new business pitches and proposals
Identify opportunities for agency growth and strategic partnership
Represent Fincham Communications at industry events
Contribute to the agency’s overall commercial success and reputation
Financial & Operational Oversight
Oversee account budgets
Ensure profitability and effective resource management across accounts
Support senior leadership with operational improvements and efficiencies
ABOUT YOU
Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in PR, communications or media relations within fashion, luxury or lifestyle sectors
Strong network of media, influencer and industry contacts
Proven leadership and team management experience
Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
Strategic thinker with strong creative instincts
Commercially aware with experience managing budgets and client growth
Calm and solutions-focused under pressure
Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
Passionate about fashion, lifestyle, culture and emerging trends
Positive, proactive and collaborative attitude
