Purpose of the Role

As a train driver, you will have the opportunity to work on various locomotives: from our class 37s to state of art class 70s. You will be a key player to run our Freight services in the Wessex and Western region. You will be empowered to ensure a safe and reliable service operation of freight trains as a role model Train Driver offering a best in class service.

Person Specification

  • Train Driver Experience with established route knowledge in the Wessex region (or Western region and with the desire to expand into the Wessex area).
  • Ensure safety of the line and all employees and public that may be affected by the operation of trains.
  • A clean safety record
  • A current PTS (third rail) appropriate to CTRL
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Flexibility with working shift patterns.
  • Ability to identify competency standards required as a result of legislation, operational standards and safety procedures and maintain same by audit and surveillance

Key Responsibilities

  • In your role, you will work with rostering and training teams, driver standards managers, delivery managers, and staff at all levels so that freight services could run safety, and on time.
