Drama Cover Supervisor

Drama Cover Supervisor – Waltham Forest (Post-16 College)

Location: Waltham Forest, London
Start Date: Immediate / Ongoing
Contract: Full-time or Part-time, Flexible
Pay: £95–£120 per day (PAYE – no umbrella deductions)

Love drama, but not the last-minute chaos? We’re looking for a confident and engaging Cover Supervisor to step into the spotlight at a welcoming Post-16 College in Waltham Forest.

The Role

You’ll be leading drama sessions and supervising classes in the absence of the regular teacher. Think of it as directing the performance rather than writing the script—keeping lessons on track, encouraging creativity, and making sure students stay engaged and supported.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Supervising drama lessons and workshops across Post-16 groups

  • Encouraging participation, collaboration, and confidence in the classroom

  • Managing behaviour in a calm and positive way

  • Stepping into other subjects when needed (don’t worry, no expert knowledge required!)

About You

  • Experience working with young people (schools, clubs, workshops, tutoring, youth groups)

  • Confident communicator with strong presence in a classroom setting

  • A passion for drama and the performing arts

  • Flexible, reliable, and happy to adapt to different classes and situations

Why join Protocol Education?

  • ✅ Weekly pay through PAYE (no umbrella faff)

  • ✅ FREE access to our online CPD Academy (including Thrive training)

  • ✅ A friendly consultant to support you every step of the way

  • ✅ Opportunities in mainstream, SEND, and alternative settings

  • ✅ A referral scheme to earn rewards for recommending friends

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.

Full assistance provided. For details of our privacy policy, please see visit the Protocol Education website.
