Project Manager (Fire Detection & Protection)
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join a well–established and growing Fire Detection & Protection specialist. Working site–based across London, you'll take ownership of multiple projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest industry standards.
We're looking for a commercially aware and technically competent Project Manager with proven experience delivering fire detection and protection installations across commercial environments.
Job Title: Project Manager (Fire Detection & Protection)
Location: Site–based across London
Salary: 60,000 – 65,000 per annum
You'll be responsible for managing fire detection and protection projects from contract award through to commissioning and client handover. Working closely with clients, design teams, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers, you'll ensure projects are delivered efficiently while maintaining full compliance with British Standards and fire safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the successful delivery of fire detection and protection projects from pre–start through to final handover
- Develop and manage project programmes, budgets and cash flow forecasts
- Lead project launch meetings with clients, consultants and internal stakeholders
- Review technical drawings, system designs and installation specifications
- Coordinate the procurement of materials, specialist subcontractors and labour
- Monitor project progress, programme milestones and resource allocation
- Manage project costs, variations, valuations and applications for payment
- Administer subcontractor packages and oversee contract performance
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and installation teams
- Attend site progress meetings and provide regular commercial and operational updates
- Ensure all installations comply with current fire safety legislation, British Standards and Health & Safety requirements
- Carry out site inspections to maintain quality, compliance and programme delivery
- Lead, mentor and support engineers, supervisors and subcontractors throughout project delivery
- Proactively identify project risks and implement effective solutions to minimise delays and costs
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience managing Fire Detection & Protection installation projects
- Strong working knowledge of BS5839 and current fire industry regulations
- FIA qualifications or equivalent fire industry certifications
- Experience delivering commercial fire alarm and life safety system installations
- Strong commercial awareness with experience managing project budgets, forecasts and variations
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, fire system schematics and specifications
- Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors and stakeholders
