Claims Fraud Handler (Hiring Immediately)
About Zego
At Zego, we understand that traditional motor insurance holds good drivers back. It's too complicated, too expensive, and it doesn't reflect how well you actually drive. Since 2016, we have been on a mission to change that by offering the lowest priced insurance for good drivers.
From van drivers and gig workers to everyday car drivers, our customers are the driving force behind everything we do. We've sold tens of millions of policies and raised over $200 million in funding and picked up numerous awards, including the Insurance Claims Team Of The Year 2024 as awarded at The Insurance Post's Claims & Fraud Awards. And we’re only just getting started. That’s where you come in...
We are looking for a proactive and investigative Fraud Claims Handler to join our elite Counter-Fraud team. In this role, you won't just look at individual claims; you will connect the dots across complex networks. You will lead the charge against professional enablers, organised fraud rings, and systematic inflation in Personal Injury and Credit Hire claims. Your mission is to dismantle fraudulent patterns before they impact our bottom line, ensuring Zego remains a hostile environment for fraudsters while protecting our genuine customers.
Using a combination of industry-standard tools, trusted data sources, and innovative technologies such as AI and telematics, you’ll make swift, accurate decisions that safeguard both the business and our customers.
What You'll Be Doing
Organised Fraud & Complex Case Management
- Manage a high-complexity portfolio of suspected organised fraud motor claims, focusing on multi-vehicle accidents, staged collisions, and slam-ons.
- Conduct deep-dive investigations into Personal Injury validity, questioning causation and identifying phantom occupants or pre-existing injuries.
- Robustly challenge Credit Hire claims by investigating necessity, period, and rate, specifically targeting organised fraud rings.
- Develop and execute strategies for cases involving professional enablers.
- Map out linked entities across multiple claims using tools to identify cross-claims fraud syndicates.
- Drive commercial sustainability by proactively identifying and mitigating high-value indemnity leakage from organised fraud networks, ensuring that saved costs directly contribute to Zego’s competitive pricing.
What You'll Need to Be Successful
Fraud & Technical Expertise
- You’ll have extensive background in handling Organised Fraud, injury and credit hire claims. Having a track record of defeating fraud rings.
- You’ll have a strong sense of commercial awareness, with the ability to balance rigorous fraud investigation against customer experience and consider if a fraud recovery is in our interest.
- You’ll understand how effective fraud detection safeguards the firm's loss ratio and long-term profitability.
- You’ll hold a strong grasp of fraud types and strategies to defeat these types of fraud.
- Ideally, you’ll have expert knowledge of Section 57 of the Criminal Justice and Courts Act 2015 (Fundamental Dishonesty) and the Civil Procedure Rules.
- You’ll be tech savvy, be skilled in fraud tools, with the ability to interpret Telematics data to debunk fraudulent statements.
Investigation & Analytical Skills
- You’ll be able to look beyond a single claim to identify patterns in phone numbers, addresses, bank details, and social media footprints.
- You’ll have an investigative mindset, you aren't satisfied with surface-level explanations and enjoy pulling on threads until the fraud unravels.
- You’ll bring highly persuasive negotiation skills, capable of refusing claims.
