Marchant Recruitment
London

We are currently seeking an organised, confident and dedicated HR Officer to join a highly respected SEN school in Westminster. This is a full-time, permanent position starting January 2026, offering an exceptional opportunity to support the HR function within a specialist school committed to transforming the lives of children with additional needs.

About the School
This Westminster SEN school is widely recognised for its compassionate ethos, child-centred approach and outstanding commitment to supporting pupils with a diverse range of learning, behavioural and emotional needs. The school provides a nurturing, structured and inclusive environment, with a highly skilled multidisciplinary team working closely to support every learner.

Staff wellbeing and teamwork are central to the school’s values. The leadership team fosters a warm, collaborative culture, ensuring that all staff receive the support, training and guidance needed to excel in their roles. As part of the HR team, you will play an instrumental role in maintaining high standards of compliance and supporting the recruitment and retention of exceptional staff.

About the Role
As HR Officer, you will be responsible for providing efficient, accurate and professional HR support across the school. Key responsibilities include:
• Managing day-to-day HR administration and maintaining accurate employee records
• Supporting the recruitment cycle for both teaching and support staff, including advertising, shortlisting and interview coordination
• Handling onboarding processes, ensuring compliance with safer recruitment, DBS checks, references and Right-to-Work documentation
• Maintaining the Single Central Record (SCR) and ensuring all safeguarding requirements are fully met
• Preparing staff contracts, variations and HR documentation
• Supporting absence monitoring, staff wellbeing initiatives and personnel queries
• Assisting with CPD tracking, staff induction processes and appraisal administration
• Working closely with senior leaders, SEND professionals and support staff teams to meet the school’s HR needs

This role requires a strong eye for detail, excellent communication skills and a calm, supportive manner when dealing with sensitive information or staff queries.

Experience and Qualifications
• Previous HR experience (education or SEN settings desirable but not essential)
• Strong understanding of HR processes and safer recruitment practices
• Excellent administrative skills with a high level of accuracy and organisation
• Confident working with HR and MIS systems
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
• CIPD Level 3 or willingness to work towards it is an advantage
• Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, solution-focused attitude

Salary
Paid according to experience and aligned with local support staff pay scales.

Application
