Junior Quantitative Researcher
This is an excellent opportunity to join our industry-leading social research team as a Junior Quantitative Researcher working on ground-breaking research for government, regulators, charities, NGOs, and the private sector.
Through our quantitative work we have recently answered questions like:
- How many young people are exposed to content related to suicide, self-harm or eating disorders each week?
- Why do young people choose to send or request nude images?
- What is life like for people with Motor Neurone Disease and their carers?
- How concerned are adults about the prevalence of violence or abuse in online pornography?
These are just some examples of our quantitative work, which can be found on our website , and include projects for clients such as Molly Rose Foundation , Neurological Alliance , Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) , and the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) , as well as other self-funded work .
Over the last several years we have built a high-performing quantitative research team to complement our qualitative offer and are now seeking a Junior Researcher with a focus on quantitative research.
About the role:
Rather than just carrying out tasks, you’ll be expected to be innovative, inquisitive and show a passion for problem-solving – whether that’s exploring topics through desk research, helping to design and run surveys, analysing secondary data sources or digging into the data to determine what we can say (and what we can’t).
In this role, you’ll quickly become a core part of multiple project teams, working closely with other quantitative and qualitative researchers and creatives on challenging projects with a focus on making change happen. This role will challenge you, stretch your abilities, and give you the opportunity to develop new skills.
As part of our ambitious and collaborative research team, you’ll be given real responsibility from day one, with the opportunity for rapid progression. You’ll see projects through all the way from start to completion, shaping and implementing data collection requirements, developing insights through in-depth analysis as well as producing and delivering research reports and other outputs.
We're not just offering a job, but a career. Many of our leadership team started as Junior Researchers, and we're committed to nurturing talent and promoting from within.
What we look for:
- Ambitious outlook: You don’t need to be a stats expert, but you will be ambitious and want to develop your skills in using quantitative research software for statistical analysis and data management (with support and training from the team).
Core foundation: Right now, you will have some experience of and be comfortable working with large data sets, using digital tools (like Excel) to explore quantitative data and have an eye for detail. A lot of what we do involves using self-report survey data, so having some understanding of survey methodology and its limitations is helpful.
You will also have a desire to quickly progress your career and make a significant contribution to the field of social research. We're looking for individuals who are not only passionate about research but also excited about the potential to learn how to influence and inspire others.
- Inquisitive mind: A passion for learning and a thirst for knowledge that goes beyond what you already know. We seek individuals who are as excited about discovering what they don't know as they are about applying what they do. We are looking for individuals with genuine curiosity. If you feel you already ‘know the answers’, then this role may not be for you.
- Team player: A collaborative instinct and the ability to thrive in a team environment. You'll be able to effectively communicate your ideas, listen attentively to others, and value the contributions of your colleagues. You'll also be open to feedback and willing to learn from others, regardless of their experience level.
- Strong work ethic: The determination to problem solve to find a way of doing something and the drive to deliver high-quality work and make a real impact, even when faced with obstacles or self-doubt.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt: A proactive approach to personal and professional development, engaging proactively with those around you to make the most of their knowledge and experience, and not be afraid to start again when something goes wrong.
- Life experience: We value all types of experience, especially those that demonstrate resilience, resourcefulness, and the ability to connect with people from different backgrounds. We encourage you to value and include challenges you've overcome in previous jobs, the different types of people you've interacted with, and the lessons you've learned from working in any non-academic or professional settings in your CV. Have you worked in retail, customer service, as a carer or a labourer? Have you volunteered in your community? These experiences can be just as valuable as academic qualifications for this role
Your future at Revealing Reality:
At Revealing Reality, we are looking to find and develop future leaders. We encourage you to explore your interests, pursue new challenges, and create your own unique journey within the company. Whether you're a recent graduate or have some experience, if you demonstrate a positive attitude we'll invest in your development and help you reach your full potential.
