PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

We’re seeking a skilled Senior Impact Producer with strong expertise in digital, audio, and linear storytelling, as well as investigative and forensic journalism. This role collaborates closely with BBC News’ investigative teams to craft compelling, high-impact short-form content. You’ll play a key part in shaping stories that resonate across platforms, driving engagement and delivering journalistic excellence. If you thrive in fast-paced environments and have a passion for impactful storytelling, we’d love to hear from you.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM

BBC Eye is a globally recognised leader in bold, innovative investigative journalism. This award-winning team creates original, high-impact content for BBC World Service Languages and BBC News’ international audiences. Their work has driven real-world change, sparking global conversations and prompting investigations into human rights abuses by governments and international bodies. Joining this team means contributing to journalism that makes a difference and holds power to account on a global scale.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
  • Produce impactful short-form content across BBC News platforms, working closely with investigative teams to tell compelling stories.
  • Create multi-platform journalism, including video, TV, radio, text, and digital formats; targeted at younger and underserved audiences.
  • Collaborate effectively with journalists and teams across BBC News and World Service Languages to deliver cohesive investigations.
  • Lead editorially complex investigations, bringing significant experience in forensic and investigative journalism.
  • Oversee content rollout, coordinating with internal editorial teams and external stakeholders to maximise reach and impact.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
  • Extensive experience in digital, radio, and TV news production, with a strong track record of creating high-quality text and video content using tools like FCP, QEdit, CPS/OPTIMO, and Stitch.
  • Strong editorial judgment and writing ability, with proven skills in producing engaging, multimedia content tailored to diverse audiences and platforms.
  • Effective team collaboration, with experience working across multiple teams and resolving conflicts constructively.
  • Expertise in social media content creation, with a history of producing impactful stories across language services and reaching new audiences using best practices and BBC/WS social strategy.
  • Proficiency in audience analytics, using data tools to track performance, identify trends, and inform editorial decisions.
  • Thorough understanding of BBC editorial policy, investigative procedures, and legal considerations, especially when handling sensitive or complex stories.
  • Knowledge of World Service Languages and regions, with insight into search and social optimisation, and ideally fluency in a second language and familiarity with at least one WS region.

If you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we’d love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.
