Façade Designer

My client is seeking an experienced Façade Designer to join a growing external envelope specialist working across commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments across the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, detailing, and coordination of façade and cladding systems from concept through to construction.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex façade packages including rainscreen cladding, curtain walling, unitised systems, and SFS structures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce detailed façade design drawings and technical details.
• Develop construction drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation details.
• Design façade systems including rainscreen cladding, curtain walling, glazing systems, and SFS framing.
• Liaise with architects, contractors, consultants, and internal project teams.
• Ensure designs comply with UK building regulations, fire safety requirements, and project specifications.
• Coordinate with structural engineers regarding load paths, bracketry, and support systems.
• Support project delivery through design reviews and technical meetings.
• Assist in resolving technical design issues during installation.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards including BS EN 13830 and EN 13501-1.

Requirements:

• Experience working as a Façade Designer, Cladding Designer, or Envelope Designer.
• Knowledge of façade systems including:
• Curtain walling
• Rainscreen cladding
• Glazing systems
• SFS / steel framing systems
• Experience using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software.
• Understanding of façade build-ups, thermal performance, and fire regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
• Strong coordination and communication skills.

Desirable :

• Experience with BIM modelling.
• Knowledge of façade testing standards.
• Experience working with façade contractors or specialist subcontractors.
