Could you take responsibility for the people, facilities and systems that keep a busy secondary school running smoothly?

A successful secondary school in South East London is seeking a confident and proactive Operations Manager to join its support leadership team on a permanent, full-time basis.

Reporting to the School Business Manager, you'll have a broad remit covering facilities, contractors, compliance, health & safety, budgets and the day-to-day operation of the school site.

What You'll Be Responsible For

This is a hands-on management role where you'll be expected to identify issues, find solutions and ensure high standards are maintained across the site.

Key areas include:

• Leading the daily operation of the school premises

• Planning and monitoring maintenance and repair programmes

• Managing contractors, suppliers and external service providers

• Overseeing cleaning, security and building services

• Maintaining health & safety and compliance records

• Coordinating fire safety, first aid and emergency procedures

• Managing site inspections and risk assessments

• Supporting procurement and obtaining competitive quotations

• Monitoring operational budgets and identifying efficiencies

• Coordinating site requirements for events and school activities

Who They're Looking For

This role would suit an experienced Facilities Manager, Estates Manager, Operations Manager or senior Site Manager who is ready to take on a broader operational remit.

You'll need excellent organisational skills, sound knowledge of health & safety and the confidence to manage contractors and stakeholders effectively. A practical approach and the ability to respond calmly to unexpected issues are important.

A full clean UK driving licence is required.
