You would be empathetic and sensitive to the vision and work of our collaborators.

Duties, Responsibilities & Deliverables

  • Working with the Art Director to create an inspiring reader experience showcasing our features, photography and fashion.

  • Collaborating with the Editor-in-Chief, Editorial Director, Art Director, Photo Editor and editorial teams to create original editorial formats generating inspiring visual proposals for reinvigorating Dazed.

  • Attend production and creative communications meetings

  • Help, maintain, and uphold and lead consistent application of the brand across print under the Art Director

  • Research, concept development and execution

  • Assist on art direction research & work on shoot decks

  • Communication of graphic design to team and stakeholders

  • Designing the magazine to production deadlines working closely with the Art Director

  • Liaising with editorial team regarding the look of the features

  • Design launch assets for the magazine with the Art Director

  • Work on translating graphic language of the print magazine into online/digital/social world

  • Oversee all assets, from receiving to online rollout

  • Make sure all assets are ready for online rollout and are all in the right formats

Desired Skills & Experience
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in editorial design (agency or in-house in a magazine/publishing house)

  • Enjoy working with photography and have a strong passion for the Dazed brand

  • Excellent organizational skills - assertive and proactive

  • Be able to maintain high standards of typography and design within a pressured publishing environment.

  • Have a dedicated work ethic and strong interest in personal development.

  • Have an understanding of editorial and prepress workflows and a strong working knowledge of Adobe CC. A knowledge of GREP would be useful but not essential.

  • Comfortable with After Effects, basic animation skills

  • A collaborative team player but also able to work independently

These duties and responsibilities are indicative and not exhaustive but serve to give a realistic overview of the role and requirements. The company reserves the right to change this role description in response to the changing needs of the business.
