GSL Education London Branch are delighted to be recruiting a Cover & Examinations Officer to work at a vibrant co-educational secondary school in Hackney. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and highly organised professional who thrives in a busy school environment.

As a Cover & Examinations Officer , you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of daily cover arrangements for teaching staff and the successful administration of examinations across the school. The role demands strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Exams Officer Responsibilities Include:

Overseeing the administration and organisation of staff absence cover and external examinations in line with Awarding Body regulations.

Arranging daily supply cover for teaching staff, starting from 7:15 am.

Recording and monitoring staff sickness absence data.

Ensuring planned absences are logged and suitable cover is provided.

Responding quickly to absence-related queries, including arranging emergency cover during the day.

Managing cover assignments through SIMS, coordinating timetables and cover duties effectively.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements:

Previous experience in an Exams Officer or Cover role (school experience preferred).

Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.

Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.

Good knowledge of SIMS or other school management systems.

Strong communication skills with staff, students, and external agencies.

Reliable, flexible, and proactive attitude.

Commitment to supporting the school's ethos and vision.
