Security Officer - St George's Shopping Centre, Harrow
Purpose of the Role
To assist with the smooth running of the shopping Centre and to assist with all emergency situations when they occur. This includes providing visible security cover to the Centre, actively patrol the Centre mall including the service corridors and the perimeter when required, handling enquiries and customer concerns, monitoring CCTV (by suitably trained and licensed staff) and controlling contractors and deliveries to the Centre.
Key Responsibilities
To work the hours and shifts in accordance with conditions of employment.
Shift pattern follows (4 days on, 2 days rolling shift pattern):
Day 1: 06:00 – 15:00, Day 2: 09:00 – 18:00, Day 3: 11:00 – 20:00 & Day 4: 15:00 – 03:00. Sunday’s hours are 8hour shifts between 08:00 to 03:00.To undertake regular patrols of the Centre and duties in accordance as instructed by the Centre Manager.
To comply fully with the Health & Safety Policy for the centre.
To comply with their individual responsibilities to ensure that the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order are complied with, in line with company policy and site procedures.
To ensure that the Rules & Regulations of the Centre are complied with at all times.
Ensure that all incidents are reported to control which will be recorded in the Incident Log.
Ensure that contractors arriving on site adhere fully to the requirements for contractor management and site H&S in line with the company policy and site procedures.
Ensure that the centre is a safe and pleasant environment.
To assist with enquiries from the public if so required.
To be aware of and abide by all rules, terms and conditions of the company.
To undertake other duties i.e. helping the cleaning team by litter picking where possible (mainly in the car park 3rd and 4th floor) and using the T7 cleaning machine at nights.
In order to comply with the Security Industry Act 2001, officers must hold an SIA Public Space Surveillance Licence and where necessary a valid SIA Security Licence.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Candidates will be required to demonstrate the following:
Essential
Basic knowledge of Radio and Video badge usage and Radio etiquette including phonetic alphabet.
Experience in the provision of security services in a busy environment visited by members of the public.
In order to comply with the Security Industry Act 2001, officers must hold a valid SIA Security Licence and where necessary a Public Space Surveillance CCTV Licence.
Ability to always demonstrate good levels of customer service.
Ability to work on own initiative and deal with demanding situations.
Honest and reliable work ethic.
Willingness to partake in on-site training for emergency procedures.
Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Willingness to adopt a flexible approach to work patterns and work weekends/evenings as and when required.
Willingness to undertake additional training and career development.
Well presented.
Accurate record keeping with good attention to detail.
Required
Valid SIA Security/DS License & CCTV license.
Desirable
Operational experience within a retailing Shopping Centre environment.
Ability to use full range of Microsoft applications inc. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Basic knowledge of H&S legislation. IOSHH Qualification.
Fire Marshall training.
First Aid at Work
Salary: £12.46 per hour + 50p per hour performance and attendance bonus
