About the role:

Senior Business Operations Officers (Departments) are the primary operational contacts for one of Kings Business Schools seven academic departments. Working closely with the Head of Department, academic colleagues and professional services teams, they play a key role in supporting the effective day-to-day running of the department and contributing to a positive staff experience.

The role supports a broad range of operational activities including recruitment and onboarding, workload planning, finance and procurement, seminars and events, space and resource management and departmental operational support. Working collaboratively with colleagues across Kings Business School and the wider university, Senior Business Operations Officers help colleagues navigate university processes, resolve operational issues and ensure department activities are delivered effectively.

We are looking for someone who combines strong attention to detail with sound judgement, takes pride in delivering an excellent service, and is motivated by helping academic departments operate effectively. This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), with a minimum of two days per week working on campus, and you will be offered an indefinite contract. Interviews will take place in person in London.

About you:



To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Educated to HNC, ALevel, NVQ Level 3, HND or equivalent, or able to demonstrate substantial vocational experience in business operations gained through progressive, jobrelated responsibilities
  2. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and confidence in learning new technologies and systems
  3. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a variety of formats and to liaise professionally and sensitively with stakeholders at all levels
  4. Excellent numerical and data management skills, including the ability to record, extract, analyse, interpret and present data to support effective, evidence-based decision-making
  5. Experience of managing budgets and other operational resources
  6. Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and manage competing demands
  7. Ability to work accurately and with resilience when under pressure, meeting deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail and focus on quality
  8. A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with the ability to work independently using sound professional judgement, contribute effectively as part of a team and support a culture of continuous improvement

Desirable criteria

  1. Experience in business operations administration in a higher education context
  2. Experience of coordinating events, seminars, visits, or other stakeholder-facing activities
  3. Experience of workload allocation
