Year 1 Teacher - Barnet
We are delighted to invite applications for a Year 1 Teacher to join our warm, inclusive, and supportive school community in Barnet. This is a wonderful opportunity for a passionate Key Stage 1 practitioner to work with pupils at a pivotal stage as they transition from Early Years into more structured learning.
Our school places great importance on nurturing the whole child. As a Year 1 teacher, you will create a classroom environment that balances structure with creativity, helping children develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning. You will deliver high-quality lessons across the curriculum, with a strong focus on phonics, early reading, writing, and numeracy.
You will work closely with colleagues in Early Years and Key Stage 1 to ensure continuity and progression, supporting pupils both academically and emotionally. Assessment will be used thoughtfully to track progress and inform planning, while differentiation will ensure all pupils, including those with SEND and EAL, are supported effectively.
Strong relationships with parents and carers are highly valued, and you will be supported to communicate openly and positively with families. The school offers a collaborative culture where staff feel valued and encouraged to develop professionally.
You will:
Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons
Create a nurturing and structured learning environment
Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development
Use assessment to inform planning and next steps
Build strong relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
In return, we offer:
A welcoming and supportive staff team
Strong leadership and a clear school vision
Access to professional development and training
Well-resourced classrooms
Happy, motivated, and enthusiastic children
To be considered for this position, please forward an up-to-date CV as soon as possible.
Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
