Responsibilities:

Team leadership & oversight

  • Manage and provide day-to-day leadership for the UK Settlements team

  • Act as the first point of escalation for UK team members, supporting their development and ensuring workload is prioritised effectively.

  • Oversee daily settlement activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to controls.

  • Provide cover and support for colleagues in Dubai and Canada, ensuring global consistency of processes.

  • Support the Head of Settlement in aligning practices across regions and implementing global standard operating procedures.

Operational responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring net settlement figures correlate to expected calculations, highlighting any discrepancies with liquidity providers.

  • Oversee analysis of outstanding trade positions and ensure anomalies are identified and resolved before net settlement.

  • Ensure sufficient liquidity is maintained across accounts to meet trade, payment, and safeguarding requirements.

  • Approve and oversee liquidity movements between settlement and safeguard accounts.

  • Review and release onward payments, ensuring adherence to approval and compliance controls.

  • Monitor margin calls, exposure levels, and ensure timely escalation of risks.

  • Ensure reconciliations of client funds, counterparty requirements, and safeguarded accounts are performed accurately, with appropriate explanations for variances.

  • Highlight inconsistencies and escalate material discrepancies to the Head of Settlement in a timely manner.

Process improvement & governance

  • Assist the Head of Settlement with defining new processes and driving adoption into BAU.

  • Identify optimisation opportunities in existing processes, working with cross-functional teams to deliver remediation plans.

  • Document and maintain global standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Contribute to ongoing monitoring of operational risks and implementation of controls.

Cross-team collaboration

  • Act as a key contact point for Account Managers, Compliance, and external banking partners to resolve various areas challenges.

  • Share knowledge, best practices, and support training of team members globally.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills — able to explain complex issues simply, build rapport across teams, and confidently engage with stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, escalate appropriately, and act as a reliable point of accountability.

  • Proven ability to manage and prioritise workloads for self and others.

  • Strong technical background in settlements, reconciliations, and financial operations.

  • Advanced Excel proficiency with excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and time management

  • Experience mentoring, training, or managing team members preferred

  • FX and Settlements experience desired

  • Motivated, organised, and confident stepping into a leadership role within a fast-growing business.
