Consultant in Cardiology - Electrophysiology and Devices
Job responsibilities The job plan will contain 10 Programmed Activities per week, to be carried out mainly on the Royal Brompton site and also includes and additional on-call commitment. The appointee may work on the other two sites of the Trust, Harefield and St Thomas sites. This is an outline programme, and you will be expected to discuss and agree a detailed job plan including your personal and professional objectives with your Clinical Leads/Director within 3 months of your start date. The appointee is expected to be proficient and independent in simple and complex arrhythmia interventions including catheter ablation and device implantation. The role will focus on complementing the local and wider team across GSTT, particularly in arrhythmia intervention and integration of cross-site services. The successful candidate will participate in rotas for electrophysiology on call and consultant of the week, in addition to providing ward rounds and supporting the weekly multidisciplinary team meeting. Flexible cross-cover of catheter laboratory sessions is an important part of this post reflected by the allocation of 2PAs (DCC) for this activity. These PAs will be assigned to the sites with the greatest need as required. The appointee will be encouraged and supported to develop an interest in ventricular arrhythmia research particularly with a cross-site and cross-disciplinary approach. Person Specification Qualifications and Training: Essential
- UK trained applicants must hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in cardiology or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Non-UK trained applicants must be on the specialist registrar.
- Higher degree (MD, PhD or equivalent)
- Specialist training in Electrophysiology
- Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in relevant speciality
- Complex ventricular tachycardia skills including epicardial ablation skills
- Lead extraction skills
- ACHD arrhythmia expertise
- Good interpersonal and communications skills in line with the Trust's Core Behaviours (see appendix one)
- Evidence of active involvement in governance and audit
- Ability to initiate & supervise research
