Year 1 Teacher | Kingston
A welcoming primary school in Kingston is seeking an enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher to begin January 2026. The successful Year 1 Teacher will plan a sequenced curriculum that secures rapid progress in phonics, early reading, emergent writing and number. • Year 1 Teacher to join a supportive KS1 phase with strong phonics provision
The Year 1 Teacher will work closely with phase leaders to design next-step plans, run small-group interventions and support assessment and reporting. Induction and planning time are provided ahead of January 2026, ensuring the Year 1 Teacher is ready to begin teaching in the spring term. Kingston families expect a nurturing classroom culture; the Year 1 Teacher will play a vital role in fostering confident, curious learners.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver well-structured Year 1 lessons that build phonics, reading and number fluency.
- Use formative assessment to identify gaps and implement timely, targeted support.
- Lead small-group interventions and liaise with colleagues to ensure curriculum coherence.
- Communicate progress effectively with parents and contribute to moderation activities.
- Participate in whole-school initiatives, enrichment activities and professional learning.
Person specification
- Qualified teacher with proven Year 1 classroom experience and strong phonic knowledge.
- Excellent classroom management, organisational skills and a commitment to pupil progress.
- Collaborative approach to teaching and an eagerness to contribute to the Kingston school community.
- Able to start January 2026 and able to be based in Kingston.
