School Receptionist - Secondary Academy - Southwark (London)

Marchant Recruitment
London

A well-regarded secondary academy in Southwark is seeking a friendly, organised and professional School Receptionist to join its front office team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in providing a warm, efficient first point of contact for students, parents, staff and visitors.

The academy is part of a diverse London community and is known for its clear systems, supportive culture and strong focus on safeguarding and student wellbeing. The reception team plays a vital role in ensuring the school runs smoothly each day.

The Role

As School Receptionist , you will support the smooth day-to-day running of the front office, providing an efficient and welcoming service. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Greeting visitors and ensuring sign-in procedures are followed in line with safeguarding requirements

  • Handling incoming calls, emails and enquiries professionally and promptly

  • Supporting communication with parents and external agencies

  • Managing deliveries, post and general front office administration

  • Maintaining accurate records and supporting attendance or student services where needed

  • Providing calm, professional support to students who come to reception throughout the day

This role requires strong organisation, a professional manner and the ability to manage competing priorities while remaining calm and approachable.

The Team

You will join a supportive and collaborative admin team that works closely together to ensure the school is welcoming, safe and well organised. The office team is central to the daily life of the academy, supporting staff and students with everything from communication and admin processes to practical problem-solving.

The academy values teamwork, clear communication and a strong commitment to safeguarding. Training and support will be provided to ensure you feel confident with school systems and procedures.

The Academy

The academy has a positive culture with clear routines that support a calm and purposeful learning environment. Staff work within established systems and are supported by leaders who value professionalism, consistency and strong relationships with students and families.

The school takes safeguarding seriously and expects all staff to uphold high standards in visitor management, student welfare and professional conduct.

What the Academy is Looking For

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience in reception, administration or a customer-facing role

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and a warm, professional manner

  • Be highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask

  • Be confident using IT systems (e.g., email, spreadsheets and database-style systems)

  • Understand the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding in a school setting

  • Work effectively as part of a team while also showing initiative

Experience in a school setting is welcomed but not essential—training can be provided for the right candidate.

Why Join This Academy

  • Friendly and supportive admin team

  • Well-organised systems and clear routines

  • Opportunity to play a key role in the daily life of the school

  • Supportive leadership and a positive working culture

  • Work in a diverse Southwark community with strong pastoral focus

This is a great opportunity for a receptionist who wants to be the welcoming face of a busy secondary academy, supporting students and staff each day — in a vibrant Southwark school community.
