We're working exclusively with a well-established and growing construction firm based in Greenwich, London that is looking to hire an experienced Accountant / Financial Controller. This is a fantastic opportunity for a finance professional with a solid background in construction or a related field to join a forward-thinking business with a strong project pipeline across residential and commercial sectors.

The Opportunity:
This is a newly created role due to sustained growth, and it offers the successful candidate a real chance to shape the finance function from the ground up. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Accountant / Financial Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the company’s finances, project-based reporting, and long-term financial strategy.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is commercially minded, detail-oriented, and confident working in a fast-paced environment typical of the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

* Preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts

* Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

* Cash flow management and financial planning

* Overseeing VAT, CIS, PAYE, and other statutory compliance

* Coordinating with external accountants and auditors

* Developing and improving internal financial controls and reporting processes

* Liaising with project teams to monitor costs and profitability

* Managing payroll, subcontractor payments, and supplier invoicing

What We’re Looking For:

* Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent)

* 5+ years of experience, preferably within construction or a project-based industry

* Strong understanding of UK accounting standards, VAT, CIS, and HMRC compliance

* Proficiency with accounting systems such as Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks

* Advanced Excel skills and the ability to produce detailed reports and financial models

* Excellent communication and leadership skills

* A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently
